Load Calc Guru
Manual J load calculations are not exactly famous for being tidy. Load Calc Guru turns the inputs, formulas, and domain rules into a sequence an HVAC practitioner can work through.
Context
Manual J depends on a lot of inputs, formulas, and rules. The app has to show the work without making the person using it reverse-engineer the software.
The problem
The hard part was not hiding the complexity. It was putting the right input and calculation state in front of the practitioner at the right time.
Work involved
I took the product from requirements clarification through implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Approach
- Mapped Manual J requirements into explicit inputs and calculation behavior.
- Built the workflow in Next.js and TypeScript with predictable calculations and readable states.
- Tested the calculation flow and ran deployment checks as part of the product work.
What this work shows
This project shows requirements analysis, full-stack web development, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, testing, and deployment in one place.
